he calls when Im at work
I listen to his breaths on my answering machiene;
a few seconds of just breathing before he decides
then words
lots and lots of words
and in my world they are kind of incoherent
he speaks so fast and with his accent its hard to follow
getting lost in his reasoning
with his attempts to make up for the past
for now
for the pain he will cause in the future
'Im sorry' he says
and then the line goes quiet
just barely audible breaths
then he hangs up
